Homemade is Always Better

I'm sure many of you have been riveted, awaiting my assessment of the silencer I bought and recently came be in my possession. It was a bit of a let down, honestly. I bought it before I knew a whole lot about suppression and it wasn't exactly the best choice I could have made.

How did it stack up the silencers I've built, myself? After doing heads up testing against the three cans I've built, I can honestly say that two of my three beat the commercial unit handily. The third is too close to tell. Mine are all lighter, as well, since they're either partially or entirely titanium.

So, there's your range report for mid-July.

What exactly is your objection with civilians owning silencers? Please do tell why I can't have something that is lethal only if I beat someone over the head with it? Why can't I have something that protects my hearing?

To help prevent hearing damage. Contrary to what you see on TV silencers don't completely muffle the sound but some say it is good in situations when you don't have ear plugs handy or time to put them in to save your hearing.

There are some rifles that are damned loud even with hearing protection, to those who are around them. Shot a 50 BMG last weekend and was thankful I could walk away and not have to stand near it when others shot it.
