One woman I knew had the occasional dry spell, and sometimes resolved it with classified ads. She included photos of herself in lingerie, and sometimes a wig turned to cover her face (rather than the usual cropping her head or blurring her face) -- real pictures, not exaggerated to the point of false advertising. She laid out a few requirements in the ad: must read her entire ad, reply in more than just a few words, use complete sentences and good grammar, no cock pictures, etc., and added some playful text to make sure the attractive picture wasn't mistaken for a fake. Among the copy-and-paste crap, cock pictures, and obviously not-for-her replies, she typically drew five or ten plausible candidates. She'd reply to all of those (I think with her sex-ad-only e-mail address, in case the classified was flagged away) to look for the best candidate, and cull the replies until she found a best prospect, typically eight or more messages each way to weed out creeps. She made a practice of meeting in public to check them out further and private for the sex on separate occasions, as an extra way to weed out trouble. Although she had some duds (one who showed up too drunk for action, one who wanted to go bareback because he wanted to get her pregnant, probably more than one minuteman), she had some good ones too, and never had any scary dates. Even the minutemen weren't always a loss, because they were usually ready for seconds after a little recharge time, and they lasted longer the second time around. A few were even good enough to earn a second meeting, but she stopped after two meetings so they didn't start to think she was interested in them for anything besides the sex. So although they weren't as good as having a decent regular partner, they were useful during the dry spells. - Another woman I know had casual sex from time to time, but she found her partners in person rather than on-line. About all she said about the experience was that she was cautious about safe sex (common sense) and that she never invited a guy to her place unless she was sure he was OK. Her reasoning was that it was a lot easier to leave the guy's place if she wanted to end an encounter than it would be to get a guy out of her place if she wanted to end the encounter. I had the good fortune of being one of the guys she found safe enough to visit her place; we had a very nice fling that lasted a week or so. We got along pretty well with our clothes on, and are still in touch occasionally. - A bi woman friend mentioned that her worst casual encounters were with women; with guys she could be picky, but with women she had a smaller pool of candidates, so she ended up meeting women who were not as close to what she would have liked. A couple of walk-outs for her were a woman who didn't mention in advance that she was with a guy, and wanted him to watch, and one who wanted to tie her up who gave her the creeps, even though being tied up might have been a turn-on with a trustworthy partner.
