Thoughts on August -50 This is sort of a follow-up on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood post. Still haven’t seen “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” but it is on -do list – perhaps when I next connect with some woman here. Anyway . . . On another site I’m on (the garage/tools site I’ve mentioned a few times) there was a non-tools discussion about August 1969 and Woodstock – the music fest not the lil yellow bird. is what I posted there, with a updates, I figured since I wrote it I would post it here too. In August ‘69 I was and a month from becoming . I lived on the west side of Los Angeles. Myself and a neighborhood went a month long camp (mid-July mid- August) on Catalina Island. We were “long hairs” and guess is the “fossils” needed a vacation from us  . We had not heard about Woodstock at this point.We were in the older of there and were mischievous at best. thing we did was rekindle an old beach campfire story, told over a few nights to the younger , about a seaweed monster that came out at night from “Bird Rock” which was just off the beach. It supposedly sucked the brains out of and goats. There was a goat skull with a hole through the top to support this BS story. The next night a guys were gonna cover themselves in seaweed, on the other’s shoulders, and appear walk of the water as the story continued. But the next day we were told in no uncertain terms that the story was done. I/we later found the Tate–LaBianca murders had happened on August 8–9. It was not far from where some of our mates and friends lived up Benedict Canyon. It was just about the thing on the news, even more than Vietnam. All of L.A. was pretty scared and parents had evidently talked the counselors and make sure all was OK. No word about Woodstock (August –) sometime later. That is the music of early life so I would have loved have been there. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. |

I know they are re-releasing the Woodstock cd in a special box set with even more 'missing' tracks not on the original.  When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Thanks for sharing with us another look into your world. I remember the Sharon Tate murders so sad, they are thinking about making a movie about that. And you know Woodstock was cancelled such a shame as many people were looking forward to that. I would of commented sooner, but this didn't show up on my page until today my friend..  One more week until Football season begins are you ready for some Football.. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Had an older sister and older brother. So I was up to date on all the haight ashbury happenings a listen to all their music.Steppin wolf,Iron butterfly,Cream. Spent most of august back then in those days in Oak Creek canyon at our cabin right after the chipmunk lodge and Powerhouse wash on 89a. I saw a clip of that movie coming out about that same time period depicting the Cobra Ferrari Wars.I found it rather hard to believe Matt Damon's portrayal of Carroll Shelby. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Always interesting to learn where other people where! I was At Ft Monmouth NJ. training on computers about a 100 miles away from Woodstock! Lots of us where talking about going, my new bride of only months told me if I went she would not be there when I got back! If I had went I probably would not have come back, lol! They had to call an amnesty to allow GI's to get back! One of my friends along with a few more never came back! A friend that I was in a band with in high school, the early 60's, performed with Crosby,Stills and Nash, Dallas Taylor, I have a set of drumsticks he gave me! Almost a half million teenagers, mostly, drunk and drugged enjoyed four days of music, no violence, no protests, just Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll! And when they left, they cleaned up as they left! That will never happen again! Thanks for the post! When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Looks like all of our stayed, I did put back my illustrations, LOL... and a report on IM, it seems to be working very good, as I have been on it all evening and not a single drop out.., Red have a good evening and stay off da beach it has monsters.....
