 I'm sure most have this problem. It's not that the messenger is necessarily broken, it's that Meelp doesn't want you to make contacts as a standard member. They want to give you the hope of meeting someone. I've had people "flirt" with me, only to say they did not once I was able to initiate contact. I wouldn't be surprised if Meelp does that too.
