No traditions for me. I've worked away from my family and friends for 20 years then returned to the area. Now I work a crazy schedule and trying to start a small business, so still no traditions. Plus, everyone I know hates me, so why bother.

why would you think everyone hates you?If you accept that, probably means you brought it on yourself

Where is your grandparent's burial site in AZ?

Come to AZ and make cioppino

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I think the wreath idea is a great tradition.

We have tons of "family" traditions. Some are from times with my grandparents, some are newer. We started a lot of new traditions for the kids and I, after the divorce. While you're making your cioppino, we'll be buying a christmas tree, bringing it home and decorating. Then the outside lights...then a evening of good food, some drinks and laughing .

Traditions are a great thing.

Maybe not quite a tradition here but,
I am currently going thru things of my dad following his death in '13, just now have had time & space, and I found yesterday a very disturbing thing, all the cards (Christmas, B-day, Fathers Day, I sent him in his final year of life were never opened! I had talked with his nurses at the time, and they had assured me cards were opened and on his dresser, however, within a week or so of each event. He could not talk, nor see very well in his final year, but he could hear and was read to so I was told.
NOW, I wonder if I was just lied to by said nurses, or if other cards were there & they just didnt look to see who had sent them, OR if he or his sister (his un-official caretaker) had chosen NOT to open those cards(I lived 1200 miles from him). I cant ask her, nor would she tell me the truth anyway, but it sure hurt to see he had not gotten my heartfelt messages in his last year.
This has had me very depressed ever since, and other evidense I found refuted with photographs & writing on back indicating much of what I was told of my family history were lies. AND wondering just what the truth may actually have been?
