The Importance Of Time
The Importance Of Time Nobody is guaranteed another minute on this planet. Look at recent events in Pittsburgh and California, where people thought they were simply going to worship or have some drinks never came home. Someone had different plans. So when I get messages from people who are simply wasting my time because they know I cannot respond unless I upgrade, I think it pretty rude. They are taking some of my time. Time I could have better invested in finding someone fun to hang with. Even in the IM, the 3 invite per day limit prevents a lot of us from finding the person who is genuinely a fit for us. I have gotten a lot of "Hey there!" messages that when I respond, I get nothing. Why did you contact me if you weren't going to reply once I responded? Even when I think about the selfishness of people who are stealing time from others, I am reminded about the generosity of some of the best people I have gotten to know on here. Those who allow messaging from non-paying members are the most generous, because they are risking getting their time wasted by a lot of tire kickers. Many of the people who have contacted me who allow contact have been very genuine and have invited me over to play with them. It was a lot of fun. I guess as my time on this planet gets further and further from the midpoint of my life, I am more sensitive to the cost of wasted minutes, hours and days. Time cannot be taken back like a rake you loaned your neighbor. You can be generous with your time, and you will get some of it wasted. But you can also enjoy some pretty great times, too. So I guess I should ease up a bit instead of being uptight about it. I might miss an opportunity to enjoy some fun if I waste my time on fussing about it! |
