What scares you on here

As an older (age wise) man I look at some of the women's profiles and wonder are they site generated if not, how the younger generation is going to survive.

The number of beautiful women, if their profile pictures are to be believed, looking for their Mr Right is amazing. Most of them don't appear to have any grasp of English (I can only comment on the English language ones. I can read and understand some other languages but I would not write anything in them).

I assume that this post also applies to the men's profiles.

If they are on this site because they have no social life and are bored shitless, then I feel sorry for them, What ever happened to socialising and talking with people?

If you look at people off the site nearly all the youngsters and quite a few older ones tend to be on their mobile texting or looking things up. How many times have you seen a couple out in say a restaurant and rather than talk to each other they are both on their phones?

There are plenty of people on this site (young and old) who only seem to "socialize" online. And it's not just young people who don't seem to have a social life. I have met a number of older men from online, and when you start trying to have a conversation about what they actually DO with their time, most of their activities (TV watching/computers, etc) are done alone and at home.

I agree most people seem to lead a very sheltered life and they do not interact well with people face to face.

I believe that the brain is a muscle and needs to be exercised. When people retire they often have nothing to do and decline very fast. I think this is more of a male problem than a female one.

Enjoy your posts, I visit but don't always comment.

The age of information and technology has ruined our youth. Verbal communication is all but non-existent. Having put two young men through college and one in primary school I've had to keep up with the times while at the same time making sure my children could carry a conversation without a keyboard.

It does become harder for the young as peer group pressures apply.

Liars are a problem with every walk of life. Sometimes they just like to ruin things for others.

Nothing "scares" us on this site, to answer the title. Are there some scary, weird people out there? Of course. We do our best to filter and weed them out. Luckily, knock on lots of wood, we've never had any scares in all the time we've been doing this. A year back here (with six month break included) and we've met some pretty chill folks. Nobody that young, however, to your point. As for this:

"If they are on this site because they have no social life and are bored shitless, then I feel sorry for them, What ever happened to socialising and talking with people?"

Thought this was what people are doing on this site? Socializing, finding people to meet offline, etc. At least that's how we use the site. We aren't here because we're bored, although we do see some say that they are. Then again, we're not the young women you speak about, we're an older married couple. Most of the clubs in the area tend to have folks 35-55 with very few outside that age range, so if you're talking about swinging, anyway, that's the sweet age spot it seems for the active social folks anyway.

My wife and I talk quite a bit and our mobile phones are how we get our news and for me that includes sports. We will be in a restaurant and what we see on our phones gives us an opportunity to discuss events. I suppose it has taken place of a newspaper. If a couple is relaxing together reading no one would give it a second thought. After being married 42 years we enjoy just sitting together and do not have to be talking every second. I see where it can look like a couple is apathetic toward each other but that is not the case with us. Our mobile phones also make it look like we are on Meelp 24/7 even if we are not attending. Thank you for mentioning this, it is an interesting topic.

I agree when you are in a happy relationship it is not necessary to chatter away incessantly. However it is easy to see that a lot of the time that they are new to each other.
