Fuck Me Running Or Should I Say Walking

Fuck, fuck, fuck! Last spring, when I decided to close up my shop I had to submit to a FBI fingerprint/background check for my new job. No big deal, the only problem I had was time limitations. I was still working on a lot of bikes, plus trying to organize and pack, and now squeezing in this crap.

So on my "given day" I headed about 20 miles across town to get this fingerprint shit over with, early. Traffic wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I got there and didn't have to wait, I even landed the best looking female fingerprinter in the place, which wasn't saying much. So, sit for a picture, show multiple forms of ID, some electronic prints, get a receipt, and I'm right back out the door.

I'm back at work and the place is a wreck of half finished jobs, half packed crap, plus it was never that clean to begin with, when I notice my wallet is missing. I tear the office apart, then I tear my truck apart, 3 times, then I drive back to the fingerprint place because they don't have a telephone line, everything is set up through the internet. Nope, no wallet.

Knowing I'm gonna need it for this new job I head to the DMV the following morning. The place is packed and it takes almost 90 minutes to get to the counter. A quick pic and I'm about to leave when the lady asks if I've had any serious medical issues in the last year. Yes, 9 months prior I had a heart attack. OMG that's another form! When I finally get back to her she informs me the state will be sending me a "medical clearance form" which must be filled out by my Dr and sent back to the DMV or my license will be suspended.

Great! I can't get the Dr's office to answer or return a phone call when a prescription runs out. A few weeks pass, I get the form, head to the Dr's office and drop it off. Done! Or so I thought. Saturday I got a letter from the DMV saying that since the form was never returned my license will be suspended on 11/10/2018 unless I request a hearing which will take place in court.

So, Tuesday morning, while I can still legally drive, I'll be headed to the Dr's office to see WHAT THE FUCK happened to my form. It probably wouldn't be a good time for them to be checking my blood pressure.

You should have asked if having a cold counts as a serious medical issue. You wouldn't have lied and you wouldn't have needed the form.

Do you wish you had just said no to the medical issue? I wonder if they check. I would think it would be a hippa violation if they did. I have never been asked at dmv , thanks for the heads up on it, though so far it is no for me.

It wasn't open heart surgery, it was a stent, which is practically an out-patient procedure, now. I know open heart surgery will suspend your license for 3 months or so.

Oh man. One of my coworkers had a similar issue...her med form was never received by the DMV. The hassle factor for her was ridiculous (though she is in Canada, so she didn't have to do a hearing).

I hope this all gets worked out without too much hassle and stress.

This was so easy, all they had to do what fill out the form and mail it in. I honestly cannot get anyone to answer the phone when I call and they won't return a message, either. 5 girls work in this office and they can't answer a phone?

Closing the shop has been a blessing. The heart attack gave me 4 days of laying on my ass getting my (almost) every need catered to by a lot of lovely young nurses.

So, just curious, it sounds like there's no way to cancel the process of getting a replacement driver's license if you happen to find your wallet a few days later? Like, "never mind, DMV".

I am pretty sure having to get a medical clearance for a license is not a thing in MN. Probably should be though!

Wow, I didn't know you had a heart attack. I'm glad your ok! I have lost my wallet 3 times this year. I pay cash whenever possible, I dont like using my debit card, when I pay cash I know what's in my accounts, with debit I just SPEND
Since I tend to pay cash I usually have anywhere from $500 to $1500 in my wallet at any given time.
The first time I lost my wallet I had the baby with me, he was crying so he had MY FULL attention. I must have dropped my wallet when I picked up Brody. Half an hour later a elderly gentleman knocked on my door and handed me my wallet. He found it, went home and his wife went through my wallet looking for ID. My address was on my driver's license. He lives 10 minutes from me and he drove over to me. My wallet had $1200 in it that day. Every dime was there. He refused to take money for finding my wallet
I asked him for his name and address so I could send his wife a thank you card. He thought that would be nice so he gave me his information. I sent the card with a $100 grocery gift card ( the grocery store parking lot is where he found my wallet) and a $100 gift card to a nice restaurant. I got a " thank you, darling, but you really didnt need to do that" card lol.
The second time I was in a cab, I paid the driver and must've dropped my wallet on the floor while I was gathering my things. A mother and her 5 year old daughter found it, found my address and had the cab drive to my house to give it back
There was $ 850 in it that time, it took a few minutes BUT I FINALLY convinced the mom to accept $100 to buy her daughter whatever she wanted. It was the 5 year old that saw my wallet.
The third time I dropped it on the bus. I got off the bus and the driver stopped the bus about 50 feet ahead of me. He got off the bus and stood at the door waiting for me to catch up. He had my wallet in his hand. I had dropped it on the stairs lol. $400 that time
I have a BAD HABIT of just taking my wallet and not my purse
NOW I ALWAYS take my purse

I've known several people who had open heart surgery that had their license suspended for 90 days. All I got was a stent.

WTF?

I am 7 years older than you, and have to get a medical form completed, because I'm diabetic. I think this is because my Dr informed the Motor Vehicle Branch, and not because I've ever answered any questions about my health, when renewing my drivers licence.

Thank Gawd, we don't get asked this kind of question.

So... its ok to have a serious medical condition just after renewing your license... you just can't have a serious condition within a year of renewal.
