Given the new limitations I was effectively asked on my last post if the site might charge to blog? This has come up before when things change around here. This is just off the top of my head so I haven't fully thought it through.

My initial thought is no they won't. Reason being, there are lots of places people can "blog" or post stuff/questions/etc on the net. Many are subject specific; politics, sports, travel, etc. - things that do get discussed here. Farcebook is one. The biggest difference is people are, or can be, naked here. Viva Las Naked . Otherwise much of what bloggers do here can be done elsewhere - for free. Unpaid members are potential payers if they come across something here that gets them motivated to pay. Blogging was possibly a source of some paid members when a certain blogger was here and had a very large following.

The only thing(s) that work against us is we (bloggers) are a very small percentage of the total membership on these sites. So we seem to go unnoticed. And standard members are even less then that. If they did charge it wouldn't effect any big number of members.

OK use your words.

Maybe we will only be able to comment on what's on page 1 or who we have saved as favorites. . If you want to be able to really look around, you'll have to get Gold.
I could see them doing that...

I have been blogging on this site for well over a decade and I've seen multiple changes, and people, both bloggers and active commenters, come and go. When I first started blogging, there were pages of new blogs every day. Now, probably barely a page on a good day. So like the way of the dial/rotary phones, and then the flip phones, change is inevitable and I read that soon Smartphones will too be a thing of the past.... Time changes and waits for no one......
Oh great, wise and oooooold Ghost . . . you’re right change is inevitable (that doesn’t chnge) and blogging here seems to be dying a slow death already. Bloggers seem to get chased off for various reasons and less come in to replace them. However, me thinks that as long as we have web pages to scribe stuff on there will be people who scribe stuff. But what do I know; I’m just an old guy with a flip phone.

I’m on a number of subject specific sites/forums. All of them have a place to post about other subjects but it is separate from the main topic/subtopics. None that I am on have limits. There are tons of sites dedicated to specific topics, I am on ones for various makes of cars and motorcycles, home improvements, tools, and business/occupational to name a few. They all have a lot of traffic and interesting, if not good and accurate info.

Far as Faceblech goes, I only use it for info/research. IMO it is mostly FaceBitch and fraught with drama queens.

They would probably never charge for the ability to blog, only just some points to leave a comment may be, hope fucking not!
Hey GP, first I have to dispel the “took away the free (cams) viewing for standards” thing . When it came up a few days ago or so I went and checked – I was able to look at several without being asked for points or to join. I just commented on another post about this today.

Maybe they’ll make commenting on blogs a points thing, but all it would do is lose them potential paying (as in dollars not points) members. I doubt they would give that up. Like you I hope not.
