Wipe Out

Happy Hump Day!
And may you find a good hump for the day, if that is your pleasure.

So....
.....
.......
..........

My mind is a blank slate today. I mean, I am coming up with nothing to blog about.
I got me some morning lovin' this morning, but pretty sure that at least thirty million other people did too, so that's not so blog worthy. I mean it was awesome, but then it always is.
I've spent the better part of the morning trying to convince the Wubbie that the smell coming from the kitchen is not cookies, it's the wax warmer.
She is not buying it and about every ten minutes she climbs out of her toy mountain she is building in the living room floor to ask me if she can have a cookie.
Curse you hazelnut latte scent. You are supposed to just smell good, not force me to have deep philosophical conversations with a three year old about why the kitchen smells like cookies when there are no cookies.
My nose has decided to become a water fountain, a sore, red water fountain. If it were a bit closer to Halloween, all I would need is some white face paint and I'd be a shoe-in as Emmett Kelly.

On a serious note, my thoughts are with the people on the gulf coast. I wish I had a way to go down there and help. The images coming out of there are so reminiscent of Katrina, policemen and other rescue workers sleeping sitting up in wet clothes, exhausted, people in shelters trying to make the most out of an awful situation, animal rescuers trying to save the creatures that were left behind. I really wish I could do more than throw some money towards relief efforts and pray. Just before Harvey hit, there was a video of a middle aged man and his family who had nowhere to go and no money to leave with even if he had a place to go. I can't get that video off my mind.

Well, that's about it.
Like I said, the gray matter is uninspired at the moment, maybe later I'll find a muse.

Love and Peace ✌🏼️

The citizens of this nation are doing heroic acts. Our leadership and the mega church of Olesteen and his ilk are not. Hopefully this will at least serve as a wake up call to those who still think that either our government or the evangelicals who are lining the pockets of our 'elected' officials don't give a damn about any of us.

I agree with your comment on those lending a hand now. My comment was focused more on preparation (or lack thereof) and WHY THE HELL those people were still in a place that needed evacuation.

Well, the hard truth of the matter is that there are many who have no funds for evacuation and no where to go, many who are too old and without family to help, and many who are plainly stupid and think they can go toe to toe with nature.

It's a helpless feeling, watching a tragedy play out a thousand miles away and not being able to do anything but throw a little money their way. I especially feel for the people who are going through this the second time after relocating to Houston from New Orleans.

If they're smart, they won't bother to re-build in some of the worst flooded areas and instead turn them into drainage/water management. We shall see.

Most of that coastline, while amazingly beautiful, is a swamp and a flood plain. I love the area around Galveston, but there isn't enough money on the planet to make me want to live there. All in all though, things came out a whole lot better than they could have, and it is heartening to see people coming together like they are.

Sadly, I wasn't one of those thirty million persons
It can't be easy to concentrate on anything else with what's going on over there in Texas at present.

I wish you were too, morning sex is a perfect way to start the day. The whole gulf coast just breaks my heart. Houston is getting all the press, but there are a lot of small communities that have just been devastated as well.

Thankfully I do not have television or I would be in tears. Getting it on my computer is bad enough. FEMA will have their hands full and the Katrina mess still is not resolved.

The science pages I follow are explaining why this storm is behaving so oddly, the water of the gulf has risen in temperature so much that each time the storm tries to go back out to sea, the increased water temps are pushing it back to shore. I'm afraid this may be just the beginning of the trouble there and all along the gulf coast.

Hope you feel better soon.

The news and images out of Houston are every bit as unsettling as after Katrina. I say now what I said then - "Do I live in a third world country after all? WTF people - is this the best we can do?"
