Shelf Life A Poem

Who knew they had a shelf life?
I guess I was just fooling myself
That I could go on and on
That like a rolling st
I would gather no moss.
But now
At this time
I am at a loss.

Too many things
Are breaking down.
My body does not
Want to get me
To the finish line.
My mind is not
Too far behind.
Or perhaps they
Are on equal footing.
Both losing
The race
At the same pace.

Oh slow is me!
I wish I could
Go back to the day
I began this journey
But why?
So I could repeat it
Like that movie
Mentioning the groundhog?
For indeed
Without the knowledge
I have now
How could I get it right
This time?

Where would I go back to?
I had thought the age of 22.
As my Dad would still be here
But my first love
Had broken my heart
So I was already sad
My Dad's cancer
Just adding to the list
Very little break
From tragedy to the next.

But then I did have some
Semblance of normalcy
But still no man I wanted
Returned my love
I settled for convenience.

It still hurts
And always will
That my life was derailed
But I did it to myself.

Now with time marching on
I am it's prisr
The bars are there
To keep me confined
To a less than stellar life.
Though not always miserable
It is more than half.
The bars are figurative
But to me they might
Be just real enough
To hinder my progress.
A happier state of mind.

Some philosophy.

When I posted this I copied it from another place. Each word that includes the letter one in that order is screwed up. Other folks had mentioned this and now I can corroborate. LOL

I've driven that street
and I've thrown that stone.
And I've convinced
myself I'll remain alone.
One thing I must do from
here on out and right
up to the last sunset.
Keep hope always at
hand.Because I may need
it if I'm going to keep
that promise to die
without any regret.

I've found that I can
no longer compare my
life to any others.I embrace
where I've been and some
of the stupid things I've
done.I won't dwell on
any waste.I'll stay off
my case.We don't get this
old and not leave
a story to be told.
So don't you dare ,forget,
to work on no regret!

Using more than all the road!

I love it. No regrets. I wish I could embrace this attitude. Hugs.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When we look back at our lives I am sure we all have things we wish had played out differently. Unfortunately there is no time machine to help us rectify our mistakes and so we have to take the lumps life gives us and move on. If we are lucky we can learn from our past experiences and use this knowledge to steer to a brighter future.

Sorry. My last post sounded better in my head than what I actually wrote.I hope you get my gist though. We learn from our experiences and things can get better!

Thank you. I agree we have to learn from our experiences.

the derailing unplanned
is life not being grand
and how we recover
doesn't mean we recreate
who we were before fate
the pieces joined together
by string glue and leather
and who we are now
is not where we thought
the river onward flows
and always in its current we are caught.

Thoughts in sensual pleasure to erotic writing writ.
